About NHPC
In 2007, a group of the nation’s leading energy advocates joined together
to create a new organization that could support and promote home energy
performance — the most effective approach to making homes more energy
efficient. This new organization, the National Home Performance Council,
works with federal and state government agencies, utilities,
contractors, energy efficiency advocates on projects that support Home Performance with Energy Star™ initiatives and increase public awareness about the many benefits of the Home Performance approach.
Home
Performance is a set of methods for making Americans’ homes more
comfortable, affordable and energy efficient. These methods, which
include simple, inexpensive measures like insulating, duct sealing,
weatherstripping, and replacing inefficient heaters and appliances, can
dramatically improve homeowners’ finances and quality of life.
Scientists estimate that implementing Home Performance measures in a
quarter of the nation’s homes would save the homeowners a total of $10
billion per year.
Our Mission
The mission of the National Home Performance Council is to encourage improved
home energy performance using a whole-house approach by facilitating
coordination and alignment between public and private sector stakeholders;
developing standardized practices; and conducting research, analysis and
education.
